White kitchens are a design trend that remains popular because the look is elegant and timeless. However, there have been some changes to the “all-white look” recently. Now in addition to the white, color is now being added in giving it some “pop”. Some of the new design trends are showing kitchen island cabinets in a fun color- like blue, green or even orange! Adding a pop of color has become a common design choice of designers and people are loving it!
Many of our showrooms feature the white kitchen design. Below, is our live kitchen at our WATERSOURCE location. As you can see, it has all white countertops and cabinets with a darker flooring giving it a contrasting look. Another addition is the darker steel color backsplash which complements the stainless steel appliances nicely.

When it comes to appliances, white is not as common as it used to be years ago. Some manufacturers such as LG, Samsung, and Maytag have eliminated their white appliances altogether. If you are currently in the market for a new appliance wanting a white finish, companies such as GE, Whirlpool, and KitchenAid still offer options in various models. Recently, GE Cafe just introduced their new matte white finish which is a real game-changer in the appliance world. In addition to the sleek look of the matte white, there is an option to customize the finish of the knobs and handles. Personally, this is one of my favorite parts! The standard color of metal is brushed bronze. But, crushed copper, crushed black and the classic looking stainless steel are also available. These metal accents can be tied in with the hardware used on cabinetry, sink faucets and lighting pendants. These different finishes look great with a lot of different cabinet colors as well, even white! If you want something other than white, the Cafe collection is also available in matte black or the traditional stainless steel.
Don's Appliances has the GE Cafe collection in many of our stores, stop in and see me at our Irwin location or any one of our other 8 locations and we would love to show you!
