At Don’s Appliances, the cost of our appliance diagnostic service fee (commonly called a trip charge) ensures a factory-certified, in-house technician comes to your home to perform a professional diagnosis of the appliance. Diagnostic fees are based on your proximity to our regional service locations:

  • Zone 1 ($169.71 + tax): Zip Codes within 1-25 miles of our Robinson Twp. Headquarters, Erie, PA or Morgantown, WV showrooms.
  • Zone 2 ($189.71 + tax): Zip Codes within 26-50 miles of our Robinson Twp. Headquarters, Erie, PA or Morgantown, WV showrooms.
  • Extended Service: Outside of the listed radius above? Please contact our service department directly to review your eligibility.

How the Repair Process Works: If our technician identifies a problem with the appliance, they will provide a quote that includes the cost of labor and any parts required to complete the repair. This transparent approach ensures you know exactly what the investment will be before the service repair work begins. What happens if my appliance is deemed not cost-effective to repair?

Sometimes, despite our best efforts, an older appliance is simply not cost-effective to repair. At Don’s Appliances, we don’t want your diagnostic fee to feel like a lost investment. If our factory-certified trained technician determines that your kitchen or laundry appliance is beyond reasonable repair, we provide a $50 credit to put towards the purchase of a new unit. The credit is valid for 30-days following your service call and can be used at any of our Don’s Appliances or Duggan’s Service & Appliance locations throughout, Pittsburgh, PA, Erie, PA and Morgantown, WV.

  • Accept and Fix: Most cosmetic damage can quickly be resolved under the manufacturer’s warranty by replacing a specific part at no charge to you.
  • Accept a Damage Allowance: You may choose to keep the unit as it is in exchange for a discounted damage allowance. This is a great way to save, and it does not affect your functional warranty.
  • Refuse the Delivery: If the product is badly damaged, you have the right to refuse it at the time of delivery. We will then work to get a replacement from our large in-stock inventory as quickly as possible.
