Traditionally, a dryer is vented to the outside allowing for quick exhaust of moist air. If a dryer cannot be vented externally condensing or heat pump dryers allow for drying of clothes without the need for venting. These units tend to run longer and handle smaller loads that a traditionally vented unit.
