In this week's episode we address a few of our customers' most common questions— questions like "Do I need to let your Delivery Department know if I live on a second floor or in an apartment building?" "Can I use my existing dryer vent or do I need to buy a new one?" and "Will your drivers alert me when they are on their way?" We threw in a few silly ones too. :) Unlike the video we have more than a minute to write up these answers, so here's a little more you should know...
Do I need to let delivery know if I live on a second floor or in an apartment building?
When you've made your purchase decision and you're tying up loose ends with your Sales Associate, it's always best to communicate where your kitchen or laundry room is located whether you're in a single-family home, 2nd floor condo or 11th floor city high-rise. The more our Installation Technicians know, the better prepared they will be with the proper tools and allocating a more accurate time for your delivery and installation.
How much does a Sub-Zero Refrigerator weigh?
Anyone in the world of appliances knows that getting a Sub-Zero refrigerator up flights of stairs and through narrow door frames is no easy feat. All Sub-Zero refrigerators are built-in or professionally installed to ensure a precise, custom fit into your kitchen's cabinetry. Weight (of course) varies by size: a 24” under-counter beverage center weighs around 130 pounds, but a full-size refrigerator like a 48” classic side-by-side can weigh 630 pounds! If you had an alligator, what would you name it?
Quinn answered this pretty quickly, but we can assure you, he does not have a pet alligator named D'Artagnan (spelling??)
Will you take away my old appliances?
YES! Our D&I Technicians will haul away all old appliances when installing new appliances into your home. We have partnered with Habitat For Humanity of Greater Pittsburgh for almost a decade and donate many of your used (and still working) appliances to their ReStore in Swissvale Shopping Center or for use in homes throughout the Pittsburgh area. We love giving back to the community in any way we can!
I may need to have my cabinets modified, do you do that kinda thing?
In fact, we do! Prior to buying your appliances or having them installed, our Installation Specialists will come out to your home and measure for a $50 fee. If you decide you want to proceed and purchase appliances from us, the $50 is taken off of the purchase price. If, for example, the floor needs built up, or cabinetry needs cut, it is an additional $75. (Please note that pricing could change based on materials used and amount of work needed.)
Will the drivers give me a call when they are on their way to my house?
Customers are given an estimated time of delivery from their Sales Associate upon purchase. Our Dispatch Team will call as the delivery date approaches with a specific time frame. We understand that sometimes you may have to make special arrangements to accept the delivery and install, and we're more than happy to call you when our D&I team is on their way! Just let us know prior to delivery.
Does your truck have a nickname?
Many of our D&I Technicians have names for their trucks but Quinn isn’t one of them. In thinking of one on the spot, he thought Mary Anne would suit it best!
If you were traveling at the speed of light in your car, would your headlights work?
This question sounds like it's better suited for physics trivia. Fortunately, Quinn doesn't have to worry about cars driving at 299 792 458 m/s
Can I use my existing dryer vent or do I need to buy a new one?
The quality your current dryer vent is in will determine whether or not we can reuse it. If you know prior to us coming out to your home that you are going to need a new one please let us know! We always bring extra vents but letting us know before is always the best option!
How long until my refrigerator starts making ice?
When Don’s comes out to your home and installs a new refrigerator with an ice maker, it could take up to 24 hours for it to start producing ice. Both the ice maker and refrigerator need to be at the correct temperature before a cycle will begin creating ice.
