In this week's episode another one of our Delivery & Installation Techs, Jeramy Dombroski, answers questions on the spot with the knowledge he's honed at Don's Appliances! We threw in a few silly ones too. :) Unlike the video we have more than a minute to write up these answers, so here's a little more you should know...
What size water line goes on a dishwasher?
Very technical question, but for any of you ‘do-it-yourself-ers’ who order appliances online … you’re going to need to know this before a dishwasher install. A quarter inch was close but you'll have a hard time finding a water line in that size. The standard size is a 3/8” compression fitting and about 6’ long. If you have an upcoming dishwasher install project, we can deliver a water line right to your door!
What is the weight limit of the lift gate on a delivery truck?
Depending on the truck, it ranges from 1500 to 3500 pounds... that could hold 3-7 Sub-Zero refrigerators, 8-20 dishwashers, or 35-87 microwaves!
What does ‘dual-fuel’ mean when referring to a range?
Professional chefs, avid cooks and bakers alike all seem to understand the investment of a dual-fuel range. Jeramy was correct in saying that both electric and gas are supplied to the range. To be more specific, the oven heats with electricity and the cook top heats by gas resulting in a more precise temperature inside the oven with the benefits of a gas cook top: more control, faster cooking and more even heat distribution.
What is induction?
Rather than a gas or an electric heating element, induction uses electric currents to directly heat pots and pans through magnetic induction, heating the cooking element itself. One of the unique characteristics about induction is that the stove top doesn’t get hot allowing you to place parchment paper, paper towels or other protectors to keep your stove top clean amid the splashing and dripping. Induction speeds up the boiling process, just as Jeramy suggested, in some cases your cooking time is cut in half!
How many tacos are too many tacos?
We tend to agree, you can never have too many tacos. (Good thing we’re in Pittsburgh and have all of these amazing taco options like Condado, Round Corner Cantina, Tako and Smoke!)
What is the part number for a steam hose kit?
This question is referring to the steam feature on some electric dryers. Steam hose kits can be purchased and connect from a water source in the laundry room to the fill valve on the back of a dryer.
How long does it take to install a wireless refrigerator?
“The same amount of time it takes to install a regular refrigerator” is right, which is about an hour depending on the type of refrigerator and whether or not the water line is being connected to make ice/ filtered water. While many of the refrigerators we sell are “connected” meaning you can use the manufacturer’s app to control many of the functions on the refrigerator you used to only be able to change via refrigerator’s control panel (plus many other techy features), wireless refrigerators have yet to come to market. :)
