As if the Sharp microwave drawer was not convenient enough, Sharp has created the motion sensed Micro”Wave” Drawer. Getting the door open when you have your hands full has been made as easy as a wave of the hand. To open, you simply wave your hand up and down in front of the sensor. Like their previous and still current model, SMD2470ASY, to close you simply give the door a slight nudge, or flip down the hidden control panel and use the close button.
The SMD2480CS has the same control panel at the top of the unit that flips down for a convenient view of the open and close buttons as well as the many presets and number keypad. The flip control panel helps to hide the controls from curious, little fingers. On the subject of the little ones, Sharp has made the activation of the sensor a deliberate motions so it won’t be activated by someone simply passing by.
Designers have always appreciated the versatility of the microwave drawer. The new SMD2480CS Micro”Wave” has a 1.2 cu ft interior with widths that would fit a 9” x 13” casserole dish and the height will accommodate up to a 20 oz coffee cup.
