What’s New for Weber in 2018
The Spirit II that we all know, and love has received a face-lift. It now comes with a ten-year all component warranty, excluding normal wear and tear, of course. It is now included in the GS4 line-up. For those of you who have caught wind of Weber’s GS4 system last year, it is simply this, four features that make grilling easier. The first feature is the infinity ignition, which is guaranteed to ignite every single time. Second, the burners distribute greater heat to ensure that everything is grilled evenly. Next, is the flavorizer bars which ensure the drippings hit the angles on the bars and redirect the smoke back up into whatever favorite meal you are grilling. Lastly, the grease management system which ensures that the grease is funneled into the drip tray.
Visually you will notice that the new Spirit II not only comes in the standard classic black, but they have added three new stunning colors that are attractive in any decorative backyard or deck setting. The colors include, a deep red, ivory and a blue which Weber refers to as sapphire. Then your eye will go to the clean look of the open cart design which is actually a retro look from the 90’s. Two large wheels for easy maneuvering and stability, no unwanted rolling on a (slightly) tilted driveway! You will also notice the drip pan that was mentioned earlier is right in the center, under the cook box, unlike the old drip tray which was located on the side shelf. It now slides right out the front so that you can throw it away easily without making a mess. You have really got to love the fold down side table which will be easy to store in the winter in that ever increasingly crowded garage!
The best part about the new Spirit II is that is igrill compatible. If you are unfamiliar with this technology, please get a look at one. Grilling is a fun experience, good times, good friends, family and wonderful hearty food but you can easily get carried away and turn some expensive steaks into shoe leather! This igrill is a must especially with chicken and that fish you worked so hard to catch. The thermometer can be used via an app on your phone. The best part is that you can mount the thermometer right on the grill or you can make use of the magnetic backing and use inside the house with your oven.
