Tips for Cleaning Your Induction Cook Top

by Megan Shaffer

How to Clean an Induction Cook Top

Induction technology has been around for many years. It's starting to appear in more kitchen appliances and for obvious reasons. Induction cooking has the ability to boil a full pot of water in minutes, have better heat control, and instant reactions to get exceptional cooking results. The brief explanation on how induction works is electromagnetic energy that's produced by tightly coiled metal underneath the ceramic or glass top and can only react to a metal pan to produce heat. This means that if there is no pan no heat is created and the service remains cool including the service surrounding the burner even while cooking. These cook tops do not radiate high heat and not for long periods of time after turning it off which prevent spill overs from burning onto the service. Though these units are easier to clean it does not mean that they are scratch and residue resistant. Here are a few tips on maintaining your induction cook top:

Use the correct cleaning supplies!

*Cook top scraper

*Non abrasive pads

*Microfiber cloths

*Paper towels

* Do not use harmful materials like abrasive pads, knives, or steel wool that can scratch and damage the service.

* Any approved cleaning solution for heavy spills or burned residue will work on your induction cook top. Mild soap with warm water can be used for simple spill over clean ups.

*Cleaners to avoid are abrasive powder cleaner, chlorine bleach, rust remover, ammonia, or any flammable liquid.
