It’s that time again, grilling season! Summer is the best when you are grilling BBQ while with your friends and family. But before you start up your grill this season, you want to make sure you give it a good clean. Here are steps on how to clean your gas BBQ grill.
1. The first step you want to do is burn off excess food and grease. You want to leave the grill burning for about 15-20 minutes on high. This will turn the leftover food into ashes. Once they are in ashes, it is easier to scrap off and remove.
2. Next, you are going to want to disconnect the gas once the grill cools down. You will then start to scrape off the left over ashes with a steel grill brush. If you do not have a grill brush, you can crumble up aluminum foil and use that to brush off the grates. After you are done scraping, you want to remove the grates off the grill. This will allow you to have better access to cleaning them. You can scrub them with warm soapy water and a sponge to get them cleaner.
3. After you clean the grates, you want to remove and clean the burner protectors. The protectors get extremely dirty because it is protecting the burner from grease and anything that can clog them. Since it is holding all that grease, you want to make sure they are wiped down. The protectors pull right out and you can clean them with warm soapy water.
4. Then, you will want to clan the inside and outside of the grill. Using warm soapy water and a sponge is the safest for gas grills. If you have a stainless steel grill, you can use stainless steel cleaner to clean the outside. If it is a porcelain grill, you will want to use porcelain cleaner. You are going to want to wipe down the grease from the burners. A sponge can easily take the dirt off the burners. You will want to make sure this is down fairly often because if the burners can get clogged up. Under the burners are plates where you can remove them and clean them as well. When cleaning the outside, you will want to wipe it down from top to bottom and dry it as well.
5. The final step is to make sure that your grill is covered. When you are not using it, you always want to have a cover on it. This is going to protect it from bugs and getting it dirtier than it needs to be. Each BBQ grill manufacture has their own grill cover for their grills. You want to make sure you have the matching cover to the grill that you have.
These steps are easy for anyone with a gas BBQ grill to follow. This is a great refresher for someone who has been grilling for years, or if you are grilling for the first time.
