    Backyard charcoal grill has just had the volume turned up!! For those grill aficionado’s that love the tried and true charcoal grilling, there is now a whole new level. Broil King and Weber have both caught on and have made some amazing improvements.

    Broil King has two models of charcoal/smoker grills in what they are calling “The Keg.” The Keg is an insulated grill similar to the Big Green Egg but with a smaller price tag. They have the KEG 2000 that has a 285 sq. in cooking space and retails for $699.99 and the KEG 5000 has a 485 sq. in cooking surface and retails for $899.99. The insulated walls of the Keg allow of a 2.5 times more thermally efficient than the traditional charcoal grills allowing for less charcoal use. They also offer a stainless steel work station that will allow you to have a built in look. The cook station retails for $699.00.

    Broil King Charcoal vs. Weber Charcoal Grills

    Weber has a work station with insulated charcoal grill unit Summit Charcoal Grilling Station model # 18501001, retail $2299.99. The Weber unit will have a 452 sq. in work surface, but it has some interesting attachments that allow you to cook the way you did on old faithful. The have Char Baskets that you to put the charcoals off to the sides on the cooking space as well as a diffuser plate to direct the heat where needed, whether you want to sear or slowly cook something. The Weber unit will also have their Snap-Jet individual burner ignition system. This will allow you to start the grill without the use of lighter fluid.
