You can really get caught up in all of the apps and online reviews out there, that’s for sure! I know, I have done it myself!
First thing is first, are you doing a total renovation or just swapping out appliances? If you are doing a total renovation then the sky is the limit. If you are only doing a “refresh” (painting your cabinets, changing out your counter tops and putting in a new floor, then there are a few more things to take into consideration.
Dust off your tape measure and make sure you take some measurements first! When measuring for a new refrigerator, make sure you measure the opening, NOT THE CURRENT REFRIGERATOR!! Make sure you are taking the height, width and depth.
If you are thinking about replacing your dishwasher, remember to measure from the floor to the underside of the counter top. I have seen many times when a customer has replaced their floors in the kitchen and have not pulled out their dishwasher to have the floor run under. It limits what you can get in the space believe it or not.
Even if you are thinking you want to change out your sink and faucet, make sure you are taking a measurement of the base cabinet not your current sink.
Another thing to think of is your cooking style. Are you using your burners or your oven more on a day to day basis? Would a second oven suit your needs?
