The warranty on appliances is designed not only to protect the customer but also the manufacturer and retailer. Let's say you spend your hard earned money on a brand new washer that ends up being a lemon- who's to blame? In the case of Maytag and Speed Queen you have great warranty coverage. While the majority of laundry brands only cover a 1 year parts and labor period, Speed Queen and Maytag give you a full 5 years parts and labor warranty included in the purchase price on select models. Of course, with any appliance purchase you have the option of extending the standard warranty up to 5 years at an additional cost. If you have a covered item, you will pay nothing at all. Don's Appliances in-house service department will order the parts you need, install them and test the appliance to make sure that it is working. An important detail to note, cosmetic damages like scratches or dents to the surface are not covered under warranty.

Extended Warranties
Maytag goes beyond the 5 year 'parts and labor' warranty on select models and increases the warranty on the tub and the transmission to 10 years (parts). The other big player in laundry, Speed Queen, increases the transmission warranty to 15 years on parts.
While looking for a new washer or dryer set, be sure to understand the warranty before you buy. Today's washing machines are a bit more complex than those of the past.
