One of the BEST Ways to Cook Shrimp | Grilled Shrimp
We are going to show you the best way to grill shrimp whether it be on your indoor grill, or outdoors. Preheat your grill top on high around 500 to 600 degrees. You can grill your shrimp shell on or shell off, but if you want an evenly cooked shrimp its recommended to flatten them. To do this, take a knife, or scissors, and make a slice down the back of the shrimp from head to tail. You just want to go in halfway, enough to flatten the shrimp but not to the point where it ends up being two halves.
From there you should be able to see the vein and remove it. You can leave the shell on to hold the shrimp together a little better and help retain moisture. Or if you want to you can remove the shell. You can also grill shrimp as they are outright with the shell on, or peeled and deveined.
We grilled them every way to show how each turns out, and hopefully to help you determine which outcome you want. If you wanted you can put these straight on the grill, or coat them in a marinade like we did. For the marinade we mixed together ¼ cup of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper, 1 ½ tablespoons of old bay seasoning, and ½ bunch of fresh chopped parsley. Throw the shrimp into this bowl and toss them in the marinade so they are completely coated.
These are then ready for the grill and will take about 3 minutes on each side depending on the size of your shrimp. The different cuts will also cook at different speeds. Our flattened “butterfly” shrimp will cook the quickest since they are the thinnest. The uncut shrimp will take longer since there’s more height to be cooked through on these.
Regardless, these shrimp take just minutes to cook. Try these on your indoor or outdoor grill for your summertime or even wintertime grilling.
