Garlic Butter Shrimp in Under 5 Minutes
One of the best ways to make shrimp is by pairing it with garlic and butter. We are going to give you Chef Anthony’s recipe for simple garlic and butter shrimp on your induction, on your gas range, or on any cooktop.
Preheat your pan on your cooktop on medium high (If you’re on induction this will be a 9 or 90%). First start by adding a whole stick of butter. That’s right, the whole stick. Chop this up into halves or quarters so it melts faster. Then we have 4 to 5 garlic cloves which you’ll want to remove the peel and they can go in whole, or you can dice these up.
You’ll want to move the garlic around and sweat it out until it is translucent. This will take roughly 3 to 5 minutes depending on the size of your garlic. You want to caramelize these in the butter, just until it turns slightly brown. This is going to be our base. Moving onto the star of the recipe, the shrimp. You’ll want to peel and devein these ahead of time. Before adding these in with the garlic and butter, pat any excess moisture off of them. The water on these won’t mix well with the oil in the butter, which can lead to uneven cooking.
Bring your heat down to medium-low and add in ½ a bunch of parsley, then add in your shrimp. The shrimp will absorb the flavor from the garlic and butter, and the parsley will really tie everything together. You can also go in and add 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper. Sautee the shrimp until they are nice and firm. You can check this by pressing on the shrimp and if it is firm and not soft, you know they’re cooking thoroughly.
Top these off with additional butter, and a squeeze of fresh lemon. If you want to you can even top these with some cheese. Shrimp will absorb all of these great flavors, and this is just one simple and quick way to make tasty shrimp right on your stove top.
