Homemade Pizza Sauce | For ANY Pizza
What is the best way to make homemade pizza sauce? We are going to show you Chef Anthony’s own recipe for making flavor-packed homemade pizza sauce.
Place 5 to 6 full sized peeled San Marzano tomatoes in a large bowl. You can also get a can of already peeled and ready tomatoes if you don’t want to do that extra work. We used a 12 ounce can of tomatoes. Now comes to messy part; crush these up with your hands until they are in super fine pieces.
After these are crushed into chunks, we are going to add the seasoning. Mix in 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil. Then 1 tablespoon of garlic salt, and 1 tablespoon of dried Italian seasoning. Stir everything together so it is evenly incorporated.
Next, we will add our greens in with some fresh basil. Take a large leaf and roll this up tight. This will break apart the leaf releasing natural oils and bring out the flavors. Then we are just going to chiffonade this; or chop it down into fine pieces. Mix this in and make sure everything is evenly incorporated before adding this to your pizza.
This sauce takes minutes to make, and now you can have your pizza with Chef Anthony’s “secret” pizza sauce recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 can (12 oz) of peeled San Marzano tomatoes
- 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbsp garlic salt
- 1 tbsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 large basil leaf
Method:
- Place San Marzano tomatoes in a large bowl
- Crush up tomatoes with hands until they are in smaller chunks
- Add extra virgin olive oil, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning and mix well until evenly incorporated
- Roll one basil leaf up and chop (chiffonade) into fine pieces
- Mix in basil and spoon onto pizza or refrigerate until ready to use
