    5 Minute Beer Boiled Shrimp

We are going to show you how to get tasty, boiled shrimp on your induction, or on any cooktop. You won’t want to serve your shrimp any other way after trying this.

Fill a pot with water, preheat your cooktop on high, and bring your water to a boil. You’ll also want to thaw out your shrimp. Make sure there’s no ice left on them so you can achieve an even cook. We aren’t going to boil them in just water, we are going to add a can of light beer to our broth mixture. This pairs well with lemon, so we will squeeze and add 1 whole lemon to this. But the best pairing with beer is of course, butter. Add ¼ of a stick of butter to this and melt it down.

Don’t forget to also season this with 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper, and 2 tablespoons of old bay seasoning. Adding a bit more punch to this, we will also place 1 of a bunch of scallions in our broth. Now that we have all of our flavors, let this steep at a rolling boiling for a few minutes before adding your shrimp.

Chef’s Tip: Avoid dumping your shrimp all in once so you don’t get burned. Gently place them in individually or a couple at a time.

After adding your shrimp, bring this down to a simmer with a lid for 3 to 5 minutes. This time can vary depending on the size of your shrimp. These are 16/20 shrimp, but if you’re using smaller shrimp cut that time in half. If you have limited room in your pot or are cooking for a larger crowd, you could do these in batches as well.

Once this has simmered for a few minutes, bring the heat all the way down. If you leave this at a boil the whole time, this will cause tough and chewy shrimp instead of tender shrimp. If you press on the shrimp and it’s firm but not tough, you know it’s thoroughly cooked but not overcooked.

Take the shrimp out of the broth and serve them with some lemons and old bay seasoning. If you wanted to be resourceful with the leftover broth, this would be a great base for a lobster bisque soup. This shrimp pairs well with beer too, so serve these up at your next party.
