The Galley

by Jessica Dobrushin

The Galley

The Galley is not your ordinary sink, it is the ideal workstation and the hub of the kitchen. The kitchen has always been the hub of the home and the sink area has always seemed to be an afterthought in the design process. The Galley prefers to be called a workstation and not just another sink manufacturer. These workstations are quickly becoming the most important appliance in the kitchen. They are changing the way people use and plan for their new kitchen.

Owner and President, Scott Anderson grew up in Oklahoma City, Ok. A graduate of Harvard University, he began his career with the Hertz Corporation. He had many different roles throughout his 24 year career with the group. After he left, Scott founded and now leads an investment company. Anderson Capital Partners, LLC., specializes in acquisitions with companies that have very strong reputations and excellent products. While doing this he was introduced to Roger Schollmer the inventor of the Galley. Scott was so impressed with the product and the way it could reinvent and change the way people think about and use their kitchens that, in March of 2014, Anderson Capital Partners acquired The Galley and currently serves as president.

The workstations are available in many sizes and can accommodate any kitchen. They range from 24” – 84” and they even offer an 18” bar station. All of the workstations are 16 gauge stainless steel with a 10” depth. The workstations are fabricated in one piece using the highest quality stainless steel. The stainless steel finish is also hand crafted for wear and easy maintenance. The design includes a double tier to accommodate the use of multiple accessories. The Galley includes a limited lifetime warranty and are all handmade and carefully inspected in the United States.

The culinary kit included with each workstation includes the following items. Each accessory has been fabricated using the highest quality materials and design engineers. These accessories are so cool that pictures are a must! Depending on the workstation size you choose for your kitchen, you may get more than one of the following items.

The culinary kit included with each workstation allows you to also customize with your material and color choice:

Other optional accessories that are offered for your entertaining or culinary needs are the condiment serving board, chef’s block, wash and serve set, the upper deck and the counter top knife block. Along with many more accessory options these really make sense and may even leave you wondering how you ever lived without them!

What workstation would be complete without the perfect faucet? “The Galley Tap is highly engineered, perfectly proportioned, functional, and beautiful. Simply put, it completes The Galley Workstation”, says Scott Anderson.

This state of the art quality and manufacturing accuracy is completely apparent of the Galley Tap. One of my favorite features of the Tap is the height. The tap measures 27” high and it approx. 10” higher than a more standard faucet. The Tap is made from A1S1 316L stainless steel and is also recommended for outdoor use. Just like the workstation, The Tap offers accessories to match. The soap dispenser and air switch are a perfect compliment. The Tap is available in six finishes, Polished Stainless Steel, Matte Stainless Steel, PVD Gun Metal Gray Stainless Steel, PVD Satin Black Stainless Steel, PVD Brushed Gold Stainless Steel and PVD Rose Gold Stainless Steel.

The Galley Workstations are definitely products that you want to bring up with your customers at the very beginning stage of their project. These workstations, specifically anything larger than the 36” option need to be designed into the space from the start of their project. They should be sold with the appliance package and we need to make sure that it can be accommodated in their kitchen. From the designs that I have seen, the concept of the workstation really works best in a linear flow kitchen. For many years kitchen designers used the triangle kitchen flow design, but when replacing your traditional sink with a Galley Workstation the triangle seems to be less efficient.

The Galley has really thought through the entire design process of this workstation. They not only wanted to give the customer the most ideal entertaining location, but they wanted this to be completely functional for everyday use. One of the most common questions from a homeowner was where and how could they possibly store all of the amazing accessories. The Galley decided that they would offer a solution for this and they call it the Galley Dresser.
