Do You Need to Stick with the Same Brands in your Kitchen?

by Don's Appliances

Picking out appliances can be a difficult process. Between all of the different brands, models, features, colors, and more - it can be overwhelming. Then researching and reading reviews, the options can be endless. One common question we often get asked when our customers are looking to buy new appliances is, "Do I have to get all the same brand”? The answer is simple, “No”. It is completely up to the customer. But, sometimes it does make it an easier process to purchase all of the same brand of appliances.

There are many different brands that offer “same brand” incentives through different promotions. For example, Thermador is running their infamous 1-2-Free Program where if you purchase either a pro range or a cooktop (or rangetop) and a wall oven you receive a free Thermador dishwasher. Then if you add on a built-in refrigerator or refrigerator/freezer columns, you receive another free appliance or heavily discounted appliance. All of the appliances have to be Thermador to qualify. In circumstances like this, it is best to purchase all of the same brand to qualify for all of their incentives. Think about it, you can save over $3,000 on your appliance package!! Brands like JennAir, SubZero/Wolf, Signature Kitchen Suites, and more offer similar packages to entice the customer to purchase all of the same brand.

If you’re like us and are very aesthetically driven where you want everything to flow and look similar, there are opportunities to purchase different brand appliances and still have that flow. A great solution to something like this would be to research appliances without handles. Products with pocket handles and a clean front are super easy to mix and match!

Here are some examples of products you can purchase that would look great in your kitchen and allow you to be able to still mix and match different brands:

Some Bosch and KitchenAid dishwasher models have pocket handles and no logo or brand on the outside. Here is a perfect example:

Low profile microwaves like Whirlpool and Kitchen-Aid have the logo on the unit but no handle like this KitchenAid model below:

Even some refrigeration now have pocket handle options like this Whirlpool:

Brands like Samsung and GE also have pocket handle models to check out as well!

Another popular option we have seen that are purchased from a different brand in a kitchen package are panel ready appliances. For example, when you put a cabinet front on the front of a panel ready Bosch dishwasher, the unit is installed flush to the cabinets and no one knows what brand dishwasher you have purchased. The same goes for under-counter refrigerators like XO Beverage Centers, or even a SubZero Wine Unit.

One thing we do want you to keep in mind is that not all stainless steel is the same. Brands like Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Beko and more offer fingerprint resistant stainless steel. The matte finish will look different next to a traditional stainless steel unit.
