LG Icemaker Not Making Ice? Try This Quick Fix
This particular model has a refrigeration compartment, but also the separate icemaker compartment. The first ice compartment on the outside of the door only provides a small amount of ice, so typically for large amount people will take from the larger compartment inside. It being summertime, a lot of people are entertaining, or trying to keep cool. So, this is an important feature we want to keep functioning since you might be going through a lot of ice.
A lot of issues start when you’re opening and closing the door where the ice maker compartment in. This allows a lot of air to blow in and out of here which can melt the ice. Air is also let in when you use the dispenser itself since a space opens up in front of the lever to let ice out. As the ice melts from this warm air and refreezes it’s more likely to form chunks. First try shaking the ice compartment up to break up some of that ice.
The other issue that may arise is that we will have ice freezing up in this compartment and it needs to be ejected through a reset. The way we do that is make sure that the ice makers on. On this model in particular, there’s instructions right inside the door for how to reset this. You’ll start by pulling the dispenser bucket out from underneath. You should see a reset button; press and hold that for 3 seconds and it should start to reset. What this does is it ejects out any ice that may have been frozen that prevented it from being ejected properly. We suggest having a bucket or a bowl underneath to catch all the ice it ejects.
That'll typically make ice right away and eliminate a major headache. This is one of the most common issues, so hopefully this helps you make ice again.
