Wok Fried Shrimp In Under 5 Minutes

Let’s make some stir fry shrimp in just minutes with just a few ingredients. We’ll be cooking on the LG Signature 48” Pro Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Range for this recipe. This cooktop comes with grit attachments that you can easily flip over to fit a wok on. Since we are on high power gas, these shrimp will take no time at all.

We already cleaned and butterfly fileted these shrimp. A butterfly filet is just when you make a cut down the center of the shrimp, so they flare out almost in a butterfly shape. Season the shrimp with 3 tablespoons of Cajun seasoning. Once your wok is heated, you’ll want to add oil to the bottom, and let it run down the sides. We used about 3 tablespoons in total to coat the pan. This is going to give us a stir fry effect with the high heat cooking.

These take about 3 – 5 minutes to cook all the way through. Depending on what size shrimp you have, this could take less or more time. We used medium sized shrimp for this. After cooking them all the way, add ½ cup of soy sauce with ¼ cup of brown sugar dissolved in. This will give a salty and sweet glaze to the shrimp. Let this cook with the shrimp for about 1 ½ minutes until the sauce is popping. We just want to keep moving them around, so they all cook.

You could finish this with some stir fry, snow peas, or even rice and make a fried rice. But to demonstrate the wok for this recipe, we kept it “shrimp-le”. The wok is just something you really need in your arsenal. It’s a lot of fun to use on the SKS. These shrimp also tasted great. You won’t achieve this type of shrimp in a simple frying pan.


  • 1 lb deveined raw shrimp
  • 3 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ brown sugar


  1. Prep shrimp in any way you would like i.e., butterfly cut, devein, deshell
  2. Preheat wok on high
  3. Coat entire wok with olive oil
  4. Season shrimp with Cajun seasoning
  5. Add shrimp to wok and cook for 3 – 5 minutes
  6. Dissolve brown sugar in soy sauce
  7. Add soy sauce and brown sugar mixture to shrimp
  8. Cook for 1 ½ minutes until fully incorporated
