How to Cut an Onion | WITHOUT Crying!
Are you still crying every time you cut an onion? Well get rid of that box of tissues because we’re going to walk you through how to cut an onion without crying. You’ll never shed a tear over an onion again. Chef Anthony had to cut a bunch of these to figure out the right way.
An easy way to start out, is by making a slice in the peel to remove it easily. Chop off the top and bottom of the onion. Then take your knife and cut the onion in half right down the middle. In the center of your two halves, you want to make a ‘V’ cut to remove the core. This is a place where a lot of the oils that make you tear up are stored. You don't want to start chopping a lot. This is what will release these oils that will make you cry.
Then you’ll want to lay your two sides down flat. You want to follow the lines or the “ribs” of the onion when chopping. If you go the opposite way of these lines when chopping, this could also make you cry a little bit. You just want to chop along the length of these lines.
That is the “No More Tears” formula from Chef Anthony. Zero tears. Hopefully this solved your crying problems, at least for onions.

- Cut the onion in half
