    Bosch vs. Kitchen Aid Dishwashers

A Bosch 800 Series dishwasher in a kitchen

Choosing a new dishwasher can be a challenging experience. There are so many options to choose from, and many of them vary by the drying and cycle options. To help narrow down the process, I will compare two of our best selling dishwashers.

    Bosch Dishwasher Review

Bosch has a consistent commitment to quiet innovation. Most of the dishwashers in the lineup are between 38-42 decibels, meaning you mostly won't hear a Bosch dishwasher running. Additionally, the innovative Bosch third dishwasher rack, called the My Way rack is like no other, as it will hold small bowls, cups and flatware. The middle rack of the unit has three positions of adjustability, with nine different configurations, which is helpful with tall items like vases or larger serving pieces. With so many options for loading, the capacity is about twelve to fourteen place settings per load. Not to mention the use of the third rack, giving you another area and about three more place settings of space. The tines are sturdy plasti-coated tines that have unmeasured durability. With the flexibility to fold down almost half of the bottom rack and middle rack, you can put larger items. The Bosch has several wash settings like the Kitchen Aid. One of my favorites is the speed 60. This 60 minute cycle will not eliminate all of the wash cycle, but shortens them to a total run time of 60 minutes. Other great cycles include delicate for fine china or wine glasses, and extra dry to get the dishes completely dry. The Bosch dishwasher is truly a functional and reliable unit.

    KitchenAid Dishwasher Review

KitchenAid's new redesigned dishwasher lineup has great new features. The new lineup has 44-46 decibels with the new Printshield finish. This finish is designed with the consumer in mind. It will not show fingerprints or smudges on the stainless. KitchenAidnow has dishwashers that have a clean water wash system. This is able to be used without rinse aid with no need to change out filters. This method of cleaning continuously uses clean water for better performance. KitchenAid also has a ProScrub function. If you have a casserole dish or something that is heavily soiled, there are dedicated jets that will work to break up the caked on mess. Another great feature is the ProWash cycle. This cycle automatically chooses the best cycle to run on your load of dishes. The KitchenAid is also superior in the drying process. The units use a ProDry option to draw the moisture out of the tub. This way your dishes will come out mostly dry. With many options such as a bar handle or recessed handle, it will pair will with most kitchen designs.

While both units are great choices, it really comes down to personal preference. Both manufacturers cover the dishwasher with a one year warranty. Both units have a third rack option, and both options are very quiet. The stainless interior on both units will help the drying process and also to keep the water hot during the washing process. Both options are good ones and would provide the type of performance expected from well known brands.
