The Ross Appliance Acquisition Story
Ross Appliance & Sweeper Co. was founded in 1950 by Ross Giacchino Sr. in Turtle Creek, PA. Growing up, the Giacchino boys helped around the shop and started learning the ins and outs of the appliance business. Ross' son, Ross Giacchino Jr., joined full‑time in 1972 and, excitingly enough, opened its second location in Charleroi. As the years progressed, Mark and Blaise Giacchino joined the business, and their Monroeville and North Huntingdon locations soon followed.
Ross Appliance and Don's Appliance started out as two independent appliance retailers, and through the years that relationship grew into a friendship.
Don Hillebrand and Ross Giacchino Jr. first met at a Maytag event. From there, Don would go on to assist Ross in ordering select appliances and encourage Ross to join Brandsource, a member service organization that serves a diverse array of retailers across the United States. In 2017, Don's Appliances purchased Ross Appliance's North Huntingdon location — that location is thriving and continues to serve Westmoreland County.
The acquisition of Ross Appliance was an easy decision for the company's principles because of the alignment in the culture and values. Ross Appliance, branded "A Don's Appliances Company", is the company's twelfth location.
