We know how challenging it can be to keep your refrigerator organized. The kids are often in and out of the refrigerator, you’re in a rush or maybe you just don’t know what the best way to organize your refrigerator. Organization is the key to success when it comes to produce bins. We’re providing you with some tips on setting up your fruits and vegetable produce bins.
1. Humidity Controls
What model refrigerator do you have? Determining which refrigerator model you have will give you a better idea about how the humidity controls work. Some go high to low; others are specific for fruits and vegetables.
2. Fruits and Vegetables
Several refrigeration systems have designed compartments for meat and fish. We like to make sure all of the fruits are in one section of the produce bins and vegetables are in another. Why you ask? The humidity controls are either higher or lower. Fruits have more moisture so they should be at a low humidity level to slow down aging. Vegetables on the other hand should be at a higher rating depending on your refrigerator. It’s important to make sure leafy green vegetables are in a higher humidity to ensure they crisp and fresh.
If your unit has an option for meat and fish, we suggest taking advantage of using the appropriate storage bins and make sure the bins are set to the appropriate temperature. This will allow your meat and fish to be fresh when it’s time to cook it for your family and friends.
