Ordering new appliances can be a stressful and exciting process. Whether you are updating your kitchen appliances or replacing a dead refrigerator, it is still exciting. Being able to cook on a new and updated appliance can be thrilling. Once you are ready for delivery of your new appliances, you need to prepare for them. There are some things you want to cover on the sales floor to prepare for them to enter your home. Here are some tips and tricks on what should be covered and how to prepare for your new appliances.
What To Go Over On The Sales Floor
Before we head over to your house to deliver your appliances, it is best to be prepared. If we need to take the doors off of the unit, or even the door for your house, tell your salesperson in advance. Having this conversation ahead of time will save a lot of problems in the long run. Say for example, you are buying a standard size refrigerator. If you pick out a refrigerator that is 26 cu. ft. and only have a 34” opening, we will need to take the doors off. It is best to make your salesperson aware of this before we arrive. This way, we can take the doors off before we get to your house. This will help speed up the process. Our delivery team wants to make sure this process goes smoothly for you.
Another topic that should be discussed is if we will need to go upstairs to deliver. You should discuss stairs with your salesperson at purchase. Trying to carry an 18 cu. ft. freezer up a flight of stairs is not the easiest task to do. The salesperson will be able to make a note on your invoice that delivery will need to go upstairs. Not only will this help delivery, it will help on your end too. They will know to bring the right tools that will be needed. This also tells delivery that it is going to take more time for that delivery.
Talking about floor replacement is also important. When we come to your house, we will protect your floors. We put down blankets and wear booties to protect your floors. If you replaced your flooring in your kitchen and the appliances were not removed, that will make a difference. For example, if you already have a dishwasher in place and get new flooring done, they may not have done the flooring under the dishwasher. If that is the case, the dishwasher is not going to pull out of its spot easily. We can still get the job done, but we would like to know ahead of time. Knowing this beforehand will let us know to bring the right tools for this scenario.
What Should Be Done Before Delivery
The most important step that should be done before delivery is to make sure the delivery team has a clear path. This includes inside and outside. These appliances are large and the delivery team will need a clear path to get them into your home. For example, if it is snowing, you will want to shovel a pathway for the delivery team. If there is 4 inches of snow in your driveway, it is going to be hard to move your appliances into your home. They also may accidentally drag in a lot of snow if the driveway is not shoveled. You will also want to clear a path from the front door to the kitchen. If there is large furniture in the way, move it. The customer should have everything prepared and ready to go before delivery goes over.
Before the delivery team heads over to deliver, you will want to make sure all connections are in place. For example, if you are converting from an electric range to a gas range, that gas connection needs to be in place before we head over. We can hook up to the gas line, but we will not be able to put it in for you. Another example is an over-the-range microwave. If you bought an over-the-range microwave and never had one in place before, you will need to have an electrician come out. The electrician needs to put an outlet in the cabinet above where the microwave will go. Once the outlet is in place, then we are able to come out and install the appliance.
A third tip is to make sure you empty out your old appliance. Before we hook up your new appliance, we will haul away the old one for you. Before we haul it away, you want to take everything out. If we are hauling away an old range that has a storage drawer, you will want to take everything out of there. This way our team can start to do their job rather than wait around. Another example is replacing a refrigerator. You will want everything out of the refrigerator when we come. This speeds up the delivery time by being prepared beforehand.
Another step you may want to do before delivery is make sure there are no pets in the way. The delivery team will be going in and out of the door for the appliance and the tools. The last thing they need is a dog following them around and getting in the way. We would also hate for them to run out of the house if the door is open. It is suggested that you put your pets into another area so this does not happen.
These are some helpful tips on how to prepare for delivery. There are some steps that should be taken care on the sales floor. This includes stairs, flooring, and spacing. Before we come out to your house, you will want to clear a pathway, make sure all connections are in place, clear out old appliances, and have pets out of the way. Preparing for our delivery team to come out will ensure a smooth delivery on your end, and put you on a path to enjoying your new appliance.
