How to Hard Boil Eggs In Your Steam Oven

In this recipe we’re giving you a great quick and easy tip: how to boil some eggs without even boiling them. We’ll be using the Jenn Air RISE 23.44" Stainless Steel Built In Single Steam Oven to achieve the “hard boiled” consistency to these eggs. This is an easy way to prep to make deviled eggs, or even your eggs for Easter.

The setup for the steam oven consists of a perforated pan on top of our tray. We were able to fit about a dozen eggs on this tray, but you can probably fit up to 3 dozen eggs on here. It all depends on your tray size, and how many you want to make. At the steam oven, we’ll make sure to put our solid tray on the rack underneath to catch any drippings. The perforated tray with the eggs will go on the top rack. Make sure your water tank is full before starting too.

The great thing about this steam oven is it has presets for any type of food we might want to cook. There’re options for poultry, fish, and of course eggs. When we select the egg setting, we have the options of soft, medium, and hard boiled. For hard boiled eggs this will take about 15 minutes. This next part is optional, but we decided to make an egg salad out of these eggs. After removing the shells, put them all in my bowl to break them up.

Chef’s Tip: There’s a couple of ways you can get uniformity when mixing these: you can use a fork to break them up or try using a grater. This will eliminate chunks and create even chunks.

For the seasonings we’ll start with ¼ teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Add about 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise. We used a roasted garlic mayonnaise, but you can use any type of mayo you want. For an extra kick add 1 tablespoon of Dijon spicy mustard, and 1 tablespoon of truffle flavored hot sauce. These are both optional, you can use just plain mustard or regular hot sauce as well.

We also chopped up some bread & butter pickle chips to add to this. And for some color and extra flavor we added some fresh parsley. When mixing this you don’t want to beat this too much, you just want to mix everything together well enough without smashing it.

Again, the egg salad is optional, and if you get anything out of this just know you can achieve perfectly hard-boiled eggs in your steam oven, without even boiling them.
