Air Fry These Classic Recipes to Spice up Your Holiday Menu

by Bill Welles

If you don’t already have an Air Fry oven range, you better make sure it’s on your wish list this year. It's a stylish and effective appliance that will save you time and energy while you’re cooking up a storm. Odds are, your holiday celebration will be a more quaint, intimate gathering this year, so a warm and comforting holiday menu will ensure your celebration is a success.

You can get creative with your recipes and whip up entrees, sides, snacks, and desserts in your air frying range. Your food will get super crispy like traditional deep-fried cuisine, but the range uses a circulation of super-charged hot air instead of greasy, messy oil. And with all the gingerbread cookies we plan on devouring, we could use a healthier alternative when it comes to our food.

Air frying also requires far less clean up than deep frying, so you’ll have more time to focus on your meal prep and get the house ready before guests (or virtual guests) arrive. Spice up your holiday feast with our list of holiday Air Fry recipes and give your company a new and exciting way to experience holiday cuisine—you'll be amazed at what you can make.

1. Air Fry Sausage Stuffing

This is no ordinary Who-Hash—if you're looking for a simplified and slimmed-down stuffing recipe to match your downsized holiday guest list, this is a perfect holiday side dish. It’s a classic recipe made with sliced white bread, celery, garlic, and fresh autumnal herbs like sage and thyme. This dish can be prepared in less than an hour, making it the perfect counterpart for any holiday entrée.

Place your sliced bread cubes on the air frying basket and air fry for about 15 minutes until they are perfectly crisp and golden. The sausage, veggies, broth, and spices can all be cooked and prepared like normal over the stove, but when you’re ready to combine the bread cubes, transfer the stuffing mixture into a casserole dish, cover with foil, and place back into your range using the Air Fry oven setting at 375 degrees. The edges will brown after about 15 minutes, then remove the foil to finish crisping the top layer for another 8 to 10 minutes.

And a helpful pro tip: Stuffing can be assembled and prepared in the baking dish one day ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator until you’re ready to cook. This will cut down on your meal prep during the big day—just be sure to keep it covered.

2. Air Fry Glazed Ham

You can’t deny a holiday staple, and it’s not a true holiday feast without a juicy and succulent ham. While everyone has their preferred cooking method, the air frying range will yield results that are moist and tender with every bite.

This spiralized, glazed ham is an easy and delicious item to serve as your main course, and with a brown sugar honey glaze, you might want to make this recipe more than once. To get started, combine brown sugar, honey, orange juice, mustard, cinnamon, clove, and black pepper to make the glaze. Heat and whisk until the brown sugar is fully dissolved and the glaze is well combined.

Generously coat your ham with your homemade glaze, make crisscross cuts into the ham so the glaze can absorb into the skin, and wrap the entire hunk of pork tightly in foil. Cook at 300 degrees for 20 minutes, reapply another layer of glaze, and cook again for another 20 minutes. To help guide your cook time, aim for 10 minutes per each pound for an even and accurate bake.

Once your ham is caramelized and crispy, add the remaining glaze on top when you’re ready to serve. It's the first step to an oink-credible holiday menu.

3. Air Fry Green Beans

Forget your grandma’s green bean casserole—this recipe for tasty green beans deserves a front-row seat at your holiday gathering. They crisp up perfectly in an air frying range in just 10 minutes, so you’ll have plenty of time to whip up a second batch.

All you need is fresh or frozen green beans, buttermilk, all-purpose flour, breadcrumbs, baking powder, panko breadcrumbs, and a seasoning mixture of Parmesan, garlic powder, and kosher salt with just a drizzle of olive oil. This recipe is lighter on the breading so it doesn’t feel overly heavy and the tasty green bean flavor can shine through.

Place the beans in your Air Fry oven range and cook at 390 degrees for 5 minutes. Shake and shift the beans around so they will warm evenly and cook for another 5 minutes. Try topping them with fried onion straws, sliced almonds, dried cranberries, or hazelnuts to dress them up for the holiday table. Include a fun dipping sauce and your entire family will crave these veggies.

4. Air Fry Mac ‘n’ Cheese Bites

We can all agree that macaroni is delicious, but when you add layers of warm and gooey cheese—forget about it! It's a classic side that tastes great with your ham or as a standalone dish. If you already eat macaroni by the gallon and want to make it even tastier, bread it and toss it in your Air Fry electric range for a melty, cheesy interior and a golden, crunchy bite.

Using refrigerated macaroni (or freshly made pasta that has had time to properly cool), take chunks of macaroni and start rolling into balls. Start your dredge station with egg and milk in one bowl and panko breadcrumbs, garlic salt, and cooked chopped bacon in another bowl.

Dunk your pasta in the mixture a few times until evenly coated and freeze for 30 minutes. Once the pasta has cooled, place in the Air Fry range at 360 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes—this will ensure they are light and golden. Take a bite on its own or try dipping in a honey barbecue or spicy-sweet Thai chili sauce.

5. Air Fry Baked Brie with Cranberry Filling

With all the rich flavors of the holiday season, you need something to help brighten up your menu. If you need a festive appetizer, you can’t go wrong with cranberry and baked brie—it spreads holiday joy and spreads real nicely on a cracker.

This recipe is used with filo dough instead of puff pastry, along with brie, cranberry sauce, chopped pecans, and fresh thyme for garnish. Air Fry those bites of cheesy goodness for 10 minutes at 380 degrees or until the pastry is golden brown and the brie is melted. You might not even need dinner after eating these.

6. Air Fry Mini Apple Pie

It’s not a holiday meal without dessert. Mini apple pies with homemade filling baked in your air frying oven range will bring fall aroma to your dinner table and garner excitement for the holiday season. Air frying is perfect for desserts because it’s a faster cooking process that is easy to monitor, and you can ensure your dough is perfectly baked every time.

To make the filling, you’ll need apples, sugar, and cornstarch to help thicken the mixture. If you are pressed for time, store-bought refrigerated double pie crust will work just fine for this recipe. Toss some flour on your countertop, unroll the dough, and cut into rectangles. Scoop on your filling, add the top layer of dough, and crimp the edges. Don't forget to poke some holes in the dough with a fork so the pie can vent.

It will take 7 to 8 minutes at 380 degrees for your apple pies to come out golden brown. Kids, grandparents, and even the dog will love this recipe. And you can substitute apple for any filling of your choice—peach, blueberry, pecan, or pumpkin will all be just as tasty. Just don’t forget the scoop of vanilla ice cream on top!
