3 Recipes to Try with a Sous Vide Oven (Signature Kitchen Suite)

    by Bill Welles

Have you heard of sous vide cooking? This method has left the secrecy of French restaurants and is quickly becoming a common cooking technique in household kitchens. Sous vide is a cooking approach that vacuum-seals food and immerses it in a bath of warm water. The water circulates evenly and cooks your food slowly using a controlled temperature setting. This slow and steady technique is what yields delectably tender beef, chicken, and seafood. Your proteins will retain their natural juices rather than shrink and dry out during the cooking process.

This cooking isn’t only designed for meat—you can prepare veggies, eggs, potatoes, and even fun desserts like wine-poached pears and creme brûlée. There are a few different types of sous vide machines on the market today, including immersion cookers, instant pots with a sous vide setting, and a sous vide cooking mode like the one on this Signature Kitchen Suite wall oven. But more on that later.

“What’s for dinner?” That’s the age-old question that we still hear on a routine basis. After a long day of work, that’s typically the first thing our children greet us with when we walk through the door. It seems like an easy solution to order takeout, but you can put an end to dinner drama and enjoy restaurant-quality cuisine at home with simple and tasty meals.

If you're hoping to broaden your culinary horizons, bring luxury precision to your kitchen and execute every meal to perfection with these incredibly user-friendly sous vide recipes. Whether you’re feeding yourself or a house full of hungry mouths, satisfy any appetite and discover what sous vide is all about.

How Can I Prepare Sous Vide Recipes?

Before you get started in the kitchen, you’ll need the right equipment. At Don’s Appliances, we have a few different sous vide appliance models. We offer a collection of Fisher & Paykel vacuum-seal drawers that seal food for marinating, food storage, resealing, and portion control. These drawers extend the lifespan of food by removing excess air, which is the prime reason for spoilage.

Electrolux and Electrolux Kitchen have a line of wall ovens with an Air Sous Vide mode that uses precisely controlled, low-temperature airflow to vacuum-seal ingredients to lock in the flavor and aroma of your favorite recipes. And our good friends at Wolf also have a built-in oven with precision-controlled cooking techniques like steam and sous vide.

There are plenty of options to help get you started, but we wanted to highlight the line of cooking appliances from Signature Kitchen Suite.

    3. Put your pork chops in a resealable vacuum bag. Place in the oven and cook low and slow for 1 hour.
    4. Heat your pan over medium heat and add your salad ingredients. Combine onion, corn, and red pepper and sauté until soft or lightly browned. Add cilantro, salt, and pepper to taste.
    5. After 1 hour, remove pork chops from the bag.
    6. Add oil back into the same pan and wait until it’s nice and hot. Sear pork chops for 1 minute on each side until you notice a golden crust.

    Ingredients:

    • 4 sirloin steaks

    6. Remove your steaks. Re-season if necessary.
    7. Heat a cast-iron pan over medium-high heat, add oil, and sear steak for 2 minutes on each side.
