PFK-Spring-2018

40 Pittsburgh’s Finest Kitchens | Greater Pittsburgh | Spring 2018 Edition Retreater palette such as Namaste (1026-1) Hearth (1093-3) and Pale Pine (1030-2) bring us closer to nature and create a calm canvas where we live. The Commoner palette embraces the farm-fresh, up cycled lifestyle. The ultra-basic and unpretentious palette includes Steeple Gray (1012-5) Mountain Lake (1156-6) and the return of red in Red Gumball (1187-7). These hues, stately and strong, infuse color and also are being used in feature walls making consumers feel happy and engaged in their homes. We have also seen these colors taking over appliances. KitchenAid’s line of small red electrics is a perfect way to infuse life into the kitchen while those more daring may opt for a red range to cook their favorite home-delivery meal service. Activists are taking the noble challenge forward, and with them, an amazing color palette has risen. The Brave palette finds us making our homes glamorous fortresses. Jewel-toned shades like Gooseberry (1048-7) paired with the elegance of Heavy Cream (1098-2) make the perfect backdrop for warm metals that are rising. This is where we see Rose Gold and hammered coppers trending. Appliances are also pushing forward with this trend. Look for Whirlpool’s new Sunset Bronze line of kitchen appliances. This warm stainless wears soft copper undertones that play well with dark or light cabinetry. Last but not least, millennials and forward- thinkers forge ahead with the happiest of palettes in “Dream Weaver.” Here, playful shades of pink, aqua and lilac set the stage for light-hearted fun. Look for pink in home design this season with soft accessories in major retailers including Target, Pottery Barn, and Crate & Barrel. It is also popping up on bathroom walls with shades such Brittany’s Bow (1181-2). The pale pink is trending with white subway tile and black cabinets for a Parisian-Chic theme. Aqua is still making inroads in small electrics by KitchenAid and the Duck-egg Blue gas range by Aga. If your budget does not allow for a new stove, try Crystal Lake (1151-4) on a kitchen feature wall. Not sure of your design style or colors?
